I am officially 27 years old. I had a fabulous birthday yesterday. It started with a beautiful orchid my mom had sent to my house... there's nothing like getting flowers delivered!! (Although I told H I'd kill him if he spent the money on that!)
I woke up yesterday morning and walked downstairs to this... so cute!!! H got me a new Vera Bradley bag (seriously, don't make fun of VB... they are functional and easy to clean), my favorite wine, some circus peanuts (total guilty pleasure of mine), and a sweet card.
He also got me the Entertainment magazine with the Twighlight article in it, and a box of cake mix?!? He said he meant to make cupcakes but ran out of time. Hee! It's totally the thought that counts :)
And for my present, Amelia slept until 9:45!!! YEAH!!! She walked downstairs and GASPED, holding her hands to her chest in excitement.

She turned to me and stage whispered, "MOMMY!! It my BIRFDAY PARTY!!!" She was so excited and danced around singing happy birthday to herself.

I asked, "Amelia, whose birthday is it?" and she answered, "MINE, Mommy, it my birfday!"

I just laughed and kissed her and said, "Yes, baby, it is!" And then we enjoyed baby pancakes and The Incredibles (she's eating on my old My Little Pony tray from when I was little).
We had a great day. I took her (and my tiny vegan friend) on a 2 mile run over a local bridge. I was about to DIE after 2 miles, and then I realized the tires were all flat on our stroller. Oops! Another new friend and her 2 year old came over, and I made them all grilled cheese while we finished watching The Incredibles. Then Amelia took a 3 hour nap while I read, then napped for an hour myself.

I woke up to the doorbell ringing, and ran downstairs to find another flower delivery!!! My new friend, Kimberly (she is H's boss's wife) sent me daisies. When we were floating around the ocean and chatting the other day, we discovered we both preferred daisies as our favorite flowers. She wrote a sweet note: "Dr. GFF... Happy Birthday! To new friendships. Love, K." It was seriously one of the sweetest gestures from a new friend. I was so happy.

My cousin Paula also sent me a lovely beach bag, hot pink towel, martini shaker, and a bag of baby liquors! She knows me well! My neighbor brought over a platter of delicious, homemade chocolate cupcakes (YUM!):

We got all dressed up and brought Amelia to her new friend's house, and H and I enjoyed the most delicious dinner EVER at a fancy steakhouse... an appetizer of she-crab soup (WOW), filet mignon and truffle macaroni with smoked gouda. It was the most AMAZING mac-n-cheese I've EVER put in my mouth. I was in heaven!!!

We came home to discover a bottle of champagne and card from Vegan. I felt totally spoiled and 100% content. It was a lovely 27th birthday!!!
